Puhoi Farmers Market

Julie Crean (Editor) - Saturday, April 28, 2012

You may frazzle at the idea of paying a toll fare to get there but Puhoi is really just a stone's throw away in the scheme of things from Auckland City. And within an hour, you could be chilling out on a Sunday a world away from the hustle and bustle of "city life".

The Puhoi Farmers Market is so chilled out, one can't help but relax and smile.  Parking roadside we accessed the Puhoi Domain via the over-bridge by foot.  Kayaks lined the river edge ready for explorers to be deployed, and a fun tree swing was in constant use flinging out over the water to the squealing passengers.

The Puhoi Market is small, familiar and very friendly. You'll be greeted by beaming smiles, taste tests and local chatter about the weather and weekend plans.

Markets are refreshingly fabulous places for gift-buying, and Puhoi was without exception. Bring cash.  The coffee is fresh, the ice-cream is cold, and the entertainment pulls people close and immerses them into the market community.

A very talented young chap was playing guitar and singing covers 'making them his own' with true delight, and with jaw dropping ease.  Watch this space: James Prescott.  NZ's got talent, and we spotted him first at the Puhoi Farmers Market!

Where on Earth is the Puhoi Markets?
