While it may look like a mammoth climb, as Paritutu Rock is a bit of a landmark on the New Plymouth foreshore, it is a very do-able walk, with great views from the top.
You'll find the entrance to the hill climb right by the car park beside the viewing platform. Follow the path as marked.
We Reckon | Yes it's steep as expected, but you are almost 1/3 the way there by the time you reach the car park. Great views back over New Plymouth and down the Surf Highway coast.
Getting to Paritutu Rock | If you head towards the New Plymouth Port, you will almost be able to follow your nose, but it's off Centennial Drive.
